March 31, 2010

The week before Easter is short and only lasts until Wednesday. Nevertheless, we continued very well. The side walls on the roof terrace are plastered, the fundament for the satellite installation is prepared and we only have to plaster the two chimneys to finish the roof terrace.

The border and the stairway to the basement within the garden area is ready armoured and bricked. The ring anchor at the southern wall of the patio is cast. We installed five tubes within the wall, to be used at a later stage for a framework for sun shades.

Now all the window frames at the terrace on second floor are ready. The window frames on first floor can only be fixed, when the floor plate of the patio is cast and a scaffolding can be installed.

The tiled shower bowls get a safety painting and are sealed like the outer terraces. Both bath tubs are set and for safety reasons filled with water.

Week Review: Storefronts: The window frames of the storefront of the 1st floor are ready and now the same type of work can begin on the garden direction. The impermeability of the terraces has been proven and as soon as the delivery arrives, we will begin with the tiling of the terrace.

Inner flooring: The design for the laying of the floor tiles is set. The tiles will be laid parallel to the storefront, shifted on a third. We tried that in the living room and start with it now in the bodega.

Inner rooms: The basement rooms are nearly finished now. After the floor tiles are laid, José and Sevi can begin with skimming. After finishing these works, only missing things are the electrical installations.

Outer area: The outer wall in the South of the patio has reached its definite height and a ring anchor is prepared.

Stairs: First treads have been set, the ones from the living room leading to the bodega. It looks great and I am looking forward to having the treads set in the stairway.

Swimming Pool: The completion of the front of the pool is bricked, the whole floor area is filled with gravel and we can begin with the armouring works. But before we can start with that, we have to set skimmer, lights and injectors. These parts should be delivered next week.

We continue very fast with the swimming pool. The surrounding wall is nearly ready and the base is filled with gravel. The fundament for the surrounding wall of the estate behind the pool is preapared. Next week, the pool will be closed and the armouring works can begin.

On first floor all the inner window frames are prepared for the final rendering now. Miguel is beginning to set the Mares stones on the outer window frames and the window sills on the upper floor are also placed.

The installations within the machinery room are proceeding fastly. Unbelievable, how many tubes have to be laid, brazed and screwed. Jens is still having the overview and answers my questions with patience. The last false ceiling in the basement is prepared and we can start with the final rendering.

Terraces of first and second floor are prepared for the sealing. Bumps are removed, everything sweeped and three layers of the rubber compound are used to seal the terraces. The effluents are blocked and on Thursday evening we begin with filling up the terraces. Almost up to the foot barrier we fill and leave the water there until Monday morning to be sure it is water-proof.

The second big delivery of Mares stones and treads has arrived. Everything was sorted and decked in the right direction.

Until the end of the week, he biggest part of the ceiling on ground floor is ready, as well as the floors in the basement are tiled.

The whole week we work on the ceilings. First floor is ready now and the "Esquineros", the edge reinforces are set and plastered.

The fundaments of the pool and the side walls are prepared. Of course it has become very muddy with all the rain of this week. This reminds us of the works on the basement last year.

As soon as the weather is better, we will finish the works on the roof. The chimney tops have to be set and the side walls still wait for their final rendering.

I promised it, and so I do it now. It is cold and windy in 10 mts height but until Friday noon, the mares stones of the window frames and the roof overhang is painted with a seal of impregnated.

The machinery room slowly gets its machines and the first works at the electrical steering start. Jens is continuing the pipeworks for the different components.

After testing the water profeness, now the roof terrace can be tiled. In the centre we will insert a relaxing seam, because up here there will be high temperature variation. Also the basement room in the back is ready tiled until the end of the week.

Until the window frames within the house are prepared further, we already begin with the final casting works at the ceiling. The rougly cast ceilings are finished and get a fine coat. The now even ceiling has a stucco texture.

The area in front of the basement wall and the rooms of the pool technics was excavated by the caterpillar and now the wall will be cast, sealed with tar and a drainage foil.

We proofed the work! On Monday we had the Balearic Holiday and there were no works going on. Therefore the roof terrace had full three days to show that it is waterproof. The drains have been blocked last Friday and we filled 15 cm water on the terrace. Until Tuesday, no drop of water came through the roof.
