Thanks god it is good weather again and we use the time to be prepared for the next rain falls. Now it is also defined, where the connection to the central vacuum cleaner will be set. There will be still some days with placing of all boxes for plugs and switches and also the plaster works in the inner of the house will continue. The door and window spaces are secured with plastic foil and the terrace on the first floor is nivelled, so the rain water can flow away easier.

It was a long meeting on Thursday. We decided for a supplier for the sealing of the terraces and many questions have been answered. On midday I go with Rafael and Johannes to the supplier of the floor coating and stone works and I decide for a floor coat. It is more expensive than in the budget but convincing me in quality, design and making. The marble stone plates are cut on a size of 30 x 60 cm and brushed with special brushes to have a nice structure within the stone.

Jens is isolating all  rain-, grey- and waste water pipes. This means double protection – the tubes themselves are poor in sounds and now with the isolating layer there will be no sound coming out. About 100 switches and 150 plugs/boxes will be set. The electrical planning is ready now and after 6 trials I found the optimal mixture of aesthetics and ergonomics. The plugs and boxes are nivelled with the water level and will be set on the level of the undercoat.

Now the extension of the passage from the living room to the bodega is ready. The two rooms become now more like an entity. Also some walls on the first floor are ground coated now. There will be 2 layers of ground coat of 2-3 cm and 1 layer of fine coat of 2-3 mm in total. The lime plaster is eco- friendly, breathable and does not have to be painted.

In some rooms we begin with the first layer of ground coating the walls. The missing channels for the water pipelines are prepared. Where possible, we will hide all pipes, here under the ceiling. The big distribution boxes for the floor heating are placed at central points at the floors, e.g. hidden in the wall cupboards. We had on the first floor 8 separate circuits with 1000 m of heating tubes.

After defining where to put all the miscellaneous wires for power and water, now we can close the reserve slots in the terraces. The gaps for the downside at the outer walls, to lay the isolation and humidity foil also are prepared.

Room after room the positions of the electrical wires are arranged with the electrician to be sure, where plugs and light switches will be placed. This planning was ready a long time before, but here at the site, there is always some fine tuning. There are cutting and chiselling out here as well and therefore the placement of the distribution boxes has to be done – not to have the plumber and the electrician having struggle. The boxes will be set after being marked by the brick layer within next week.

We begin with the marking of the sanitary pipes. The slots in the walls for warm and cold water and the armatures are marked. Also the other pipes for grey-, waste- and rainwater and for the central vacuum cleaner have to be marked carefully. In the afternoon we will begin with the slots in the walls.

This is the last change in the layout of the second floor - hopefully! Miguel takes it easy and forgives me the new changement. You can see it in the plans.

Three containers with lime mortar are delivered and Miguel is beginning with the plaster works ant the northern store front. First there comes a layer of 6-7 mm. This has to be dry before a second layer of the same thickness is following. This is the raw plastering, on this, the finishing fine plaster work will be laid.

Also the northern storefront is prepared for a first layer of plaster. The nets are sticked and the lower angle to the neighbour house is sealed with waterresistant foil. The corners are supported with profiles. That is to avoid that the angles crumble. A way, that also in the inner building work will be continued.

Preparation works for the first plaster works at the outer storefront: A built-in net everywhere, where different material come together (bricks, concrete etc.) to avoid fissures. The storefront at the south is also prepared and the connection to the neighbour house is sealed. Preparation works for the finishing of the terrace on the upper floor: Over the raw casted concrete comes a first layer of cement for a better niveling.

Last weeks survey: On the outside of the northern storefront, a workshop platform was raised. A practical solution, since we cannot built scaffoldings to the neighbour houses. The whole storefront will be done at once. That means that I have to think about the definitive colour and style of the side fronts. Sevi is preparing the backside front of the 2nd floor for plastering - unevenness and bumps are evened out.

The preparation works on the ground and the first floor are done, so the plumber and electrician can begin with marking their pipe and cableways. The work will begin next week. After a meeting with the architect last Friday, we will once again change the layout of the 2nd floor - Miguel will be delighted...

From the machinery room for the pool technique as well as from the stairway down to the basement there has to be built a drainpipe to the pit drainage. This is not easy because of the hard concrete.
